Lydia Schofield

Lydia (she/her) graduated recently in philosophy at Newcastle University. Her degree focused on alternative philosophies, exploring on different attitudes to nature and our bodies, and exploring a more collective way of understanding ourselves in the world.

Community engagement is an essential part of her life, practiced through her involvement with Star and Shadow, a volunteer ran cinema in the centre of Newcastle. Lydia sees this as an important way to choose human connection and care over the individualism society increasingly pushes on us. She also connects with her community through a fierce love of fibre arts, which began with her starting a crochet and knitting society at university.

When she’s not getting stuck into community projects or knitting, she enjoys swimming in the north-east sea and going to ceilidhs.
