Photographer’s Playground
In September we begin our Research and Development phase for our new outdoor dance theatre work, Grief Floats.
We want to address the lack of Black and non Black Womxn of Colour working in dance photography in the North East, and to support photographers crossover into dance in order to increase the pool of photographers we can work with.
So, we are opening up these rehearsals to Black and non Black Womxn of Colour as a way to support photographers to practise and develop the skills needed to capture dance and develop new career opportunities.
There won’t be a fee but we won’t expect you to ‘work’ for us .
It’s a creative playground for you.
We only ask; that you respect the creative process of the artists in the room, and are sensitive to their space and work. That if you want to release any images taken of our work publicly that we approve the images, all parties are credited and that you offer us a digital copy.
The rehearsal dates are between 9am-5pm, September 29th, 30th and October 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and will take place at Dance City, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Please note, this opportunity is for photographers who are interested in developing their skills, not for people interested in becoming photographers.
We already have a photographer working on this project, and need to schedule these open sessions around their time, we’re sorry if we are unable to meet your time needs, but we are committed to offering this for every work we make, there will be other opportunities.
