Nadeem’s love for music and dance has been a lifelong passion. As a student at Teesside Polytechnic (now Teesside University), he taught himself and others Bhangra, competed in the first regional Asian Bhangra competition, and even completed a 24-hour charity disco dance in 1978.
He proudly joined Company of Others as a Trustee/Director in 2024, supporting a community dance company that aligns with his lifelong enthusiasm for the arts.
Beyond dance, Nadeem has spent over four decades championing race relations, community engagement, and asylum applicants, refugees and migration. His career includes key roles with Newcastle City Council, and seconded to manage the North East Strategic Migration Partnership, 2000 to 2012.
A networker and community facilitator, he currently serves on the boards of Tyne Housing, is a primary school governor, and chairs the ITV/Tyne Tees Diversity Panel. Known for his innovative and action-driven approach, he has led and delivered many projects that have improved the lives of diverse communities across Newcastle and the North East and across Europe.
